GreenLinebyK: Handmade clothing for a cause

GreenLinebyK, one of my favorite boutiques, is helping out hurricane  victims in a big way. The small business based out of Mashpee, MA, is donating a portion of proceeds from their apparel sales to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The company which creates handmade, eco-friendly apparel and accessories for women and children will hold two days of Flash Sales for charity on Thursday, November 8 and Friday, November 9. All customers will receive FREE SHIPPING on Thursday and Friday and 10% of sales will go towards The American Red Cross.

Kathryn Hilderbrand, owner, designer and seamstress behind GreenLinebyK knew she needed to do something to assist in relief efforts. She says, “I feel that every single one of us has a social, moral and human obligation to help where we can when we see our fellow man suffering such loss and dealing with crisis. I have been blessed in my life by the help of others when I needed it most. I truly believe that we all have a responsibility to ‘pay it forward’. I consider it an honor to be a part of the humanitarian relief efforts.”

All Flash Sale items are available for purchase on their Women’s Etsy shop and Children’s Etsy Shop. Here are some of my favorites:

Pink Hair for Hope

It’s almost October which means Breast Cancer Awareness month is right around the corner. A fun and easy way to contribute is at the salon. Many are offering pink hair extensions with proceeds benefiting a Breast Cancer charity. I got my hot pink extension put in last night and I love it! For a list of salons near you offering pink hair for the cause, visit PinkHairForHope.org.

Bracelets that benefit: The Shine Project

Let’s be real, it’s hard to get rolling on a Monday. Between weekend-lag and five long days until Saturday, it’s kind of the pits. Today, I want to make Monday a little better with a feel-good post about a really great cause called The Shine Project and their new bracelet line, THREADS. The bracelets are really cool and what’s even better is that they help educate at-risk youth.

Created by Ashley LeMieux , Threads is a cause-driven business that changes the future of at risk youth. They come from various backgrounds, but all have one thing in common, they want to break the cycle. By employing them, we instill values of self reliance and hard work. They are paid fair wages for the bracelets they make, and in turn are able to pay their way through school. Many of Threads employees are first generation college students. They dream of becoming nurses, broadcasters, writers and engineers.

How awesome is that? Below are some of my favorites and you can view the entire collection at myshineproject.com.
